Market structure
Uttar Pradesh is too large to treat as one market. Western UP — Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), Meerut, Agra, Aligarh and Bareilly — is tied to Delhi-NCR by expressways and rail. Awadh centres on Lucknow and Kanpur; Purvanchal on Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur; and Bundelkhand on Jhansi. Each region has its own wholesale trade and its own referral hospitals.
For a partner, the practical unit is the district and its headquarters town. A Lucknow partner and a Kanpur partner are only a couple of hours apart but serve entirely different doctors and chemists, and Gorakhpur acts as a referral centre for the districts towards the Nepal border.
Summer on the Gangetic plain is long and hot, and pre-monsoon temperatures are far above the 25 °C storage limit on most FertiLogic packs. Store stock indoors in a cool room and do not leave cartons waiting in transport depots. Purvanchal and Bundelkhand routes are longer and suit fortnightly rather than weekly planning.
